“The Turning Point We had several conversations we were able to figure things out and plan how I could balance work and home.
”
This story has been edited for length and clarity.
Time has been the major challenge in our first year of marriage. My work requires me to be away a lot, and I barely make myself available. It makes me feel bad and selfish whenever I get messages from my wife saying she misses me and needs my presence and attention. She's complained about it a lot. This situation reminds me of how I promised myself to give my family the fatherly presence I never enjoyed while growing up.
The Turning Point
We had several conversations we were able to figure things out and plan how I could balance work and home. Communication is the key.
Where We Are Now
We are not there yet, but I'm intentional about making the plans work out, and there has been improvement so far.
