“But while considering those opportunities, I have to consider my family first as a mother of great children.
”
This story has been edited for length and clarity.
I had always wanted a financially stable and romantic marriage, but that wasn't what I got.
Our marriage faced many hardships and financial struggles. There were times we could not afford our rent or medical bills. There were times we could not afford even a square meal for a day. It was so challenging and tough. But we kept holding on to God. There were times I wanted to leave the marriage and seek greener pastures. Not that there were no opportunities; there were lots of opportunities. But while considering those opportunities, I have to consider my family first as a mother of great children.
Outside the financial instability, we also had communication gaps. For instance, as a woman, when you try to please your man, you dress beautifully, make a good hairdo, but your spouse will not appreciate or make a comment. When asked after some days why he didn't make a comment, he would say he said it in his mind.
The Turning Point
I made up my mind to always draw his attention to myself and keep praying. Also working on saving and investing.
Where We Are Now
God is helping, and He is faithful.
My advice is not to give up. Keep taking the first step in communicating with your spouse, praying, and investing.
